this is the trade screen. from here we can buy or sell whatever quantity of
whatever symbol we want. but how does one know what to purchase? i'll ignore
all the research that needs to be done, and let's say we're going to get some
microsoft stock. the symbol for microsoft is "msft" so we will type that into
the "get quote" tool and click "get quote". (if a user doesn't know what the symbol for a particular company is or just wants to do basic research, just clicking on "get quote" will bring up research tools)
